Testing and Quality

Testing & Quality

Sunole products are tested in Turktex laboratories to ensure reliable performance in outdoor environments. Testing procedures evaluate the effects of UV radiation, humidity and weather conditions on textile materials. Through continuous research and development, Turktex ensures that Sunole yarns and fabrics meet the required standards for durability and long-term performance.

Test Methods

ISO EN 105-B04 – Colour Fastness to Artificial Weathering (Xenon Arc Lamp Test)

This test method is used to evaluate the color fastness of textile products under a xenon arc lamp that simulates natural sunlight. During the test, fabric samples are exposed to controlled light, temperature and humidity conditions for specific periods. Throughout the process, color change, resistance to fading and overall color stability of the material are evaluated. The ISO EN 105-B04 test is an important reference method for determining the color performance of textiles, particularly under long-term UV exposure in outdoor applications.

ASTM G154 – Accelerated Weathering Test Using Fluorescent UV Lamps

The ASTM G154 test method is used to evaluate the effects of UV radiation, humidity and temperature variations on materials under accelerated conditions. During the test, samples are exposed to cycles of ultraviolet light generated by fluorescent UV lamps and condensation phases. These cycles simulate the UV degradation, color changes and surface deformation that materials may experience over time in outdoor environments. This method allows environmental effects that may occur over many years to be analyzed within a much shorter testing period, enabling product performance to be evaluated during the research and development process.

BS EN ISO 4920 / AATCC 22 – Spray Test (Water Repellency)

This test method is used to evaluate the water repellency performance of textile surfaces. During the test, water is sprayed onto the fabric surface under controlled conditions, and the degree of wetting on the surface is assessed according to a standardized rating scale. The obtained rating indicates the fabric’s ability to repel water droplets and prevent surface wetting. Higher ratings demonstrate that the fabric has water-repellent surface properties and can maintain performance in outdoor environments exposed to rain and humidity. Sunole fabrics achieve a water repellency rating of 4–5 in this test. Results are rated from 0 to 5 (5 being the best). Upon request, fabrics can also be produced with fluorocarbon-free (PFC/PFAS-free) water-repellent finishes.

Real-life Weathering Tests

In addition to laboratory testing, Sunole fabrics are subjected to long-term exposure tests under real outdoor conditions. These tests are carried out in multiple locations where fabrics are exposed to natural sunlight, UV radiation, humidity, temperature changes and environmental effects over extended periods. The tests are conducted over several years to evaluate long-term color stability, material durability and overall performance. All observations and test results are carefully recorded and analyzed to support continuous product development.

Quality Control

All production processes are continuously monitored to ensure consistent quality. Through systematic inspections and data monitoring, potential issues are detected at an early stage. If a quality-related issue occurs, corrective actions are taken immediately. Even after delivery, Turktex stands behind Sunole products, ensuring reliability and customer satisfaction.

* Upon request, finished customer products can also be tested in Turktex laboratories.
